We chose to add these certain props to our location as we did not want to break the illusion of reality (versimillitude). It was important to add this to the cinematography as we wanted this area to look in the worst possible condition, to ensure the audience would respond to this area in a negative perspective. This also reflects the genre of crime drama as the "ghetto" areas are always shown in the films of this genre.
